Marilyn Monroe – American Airlines Sitting (AA-20)

The Essential Marilyn Collection
Milton H. Greene
  • In February of 1956, Milton photographed Marilyn Monroe getting off a plane in Los Angeles. Milton was highly revered by advertising agencies for offering an editorial bent, even for his commercial clients. This shoot inspired him to pitch a celebrity series ad campaign to American Airlines. The film industry enthusiastically embraced the idea. A phenomenal campaign ensued with a superior cast, including Marilyn Monroe wearing a beautiful fur coat. The stars reveled in the fact that for 5 years after, first class accommodations would be provided for them and their families.Pin_it_button
